The employment outlook is looking up for cannabis aficionados.

The Oregonian, the main newspaper in Portland, is looking for a critic to review marijuana strains and other weed-related products. The job listing for the freelance position demands an ldquoexperienced cannabis consumerrdquo with deep knowledge of the strains of marijuana available in the state. The role will also include writing about the statersquos ldquorobust cannabis culture and marketplace.rdquo

Recreational marijuana use was legalized in Oregon July 1, so jobs related to pot are sure to increase in the coming months. But the cannabis writer at the Oregonian wonrsquot be the first person to hold such a role at a major American newspaper. The Denver Post appointed a pot editor at the end of 2013 just before Colorado legalized marijuana in the state.
